Eh-Ster

Easter is a weird kind of day for me. On the one hand, it's just a random Sunday. Seriously. Ostara, my Spring holiday, has come and gone; it's not today. Unlike Christmas, I have no lingering, warm memories of it, or any secular ties to it. In fact, one of my most embarrassing nights out ever took place on Easter (*waves to the person who was with me, and still blushes*), so really, that's not a good memory. All in all, it's ... a day. On the other hand, many of my friends are Christian, and today is really, really important to them. Any solid theologian will tell you Easter is far more religiously important than Christmas. And, most importantly, it is the day in my father's faith that promises him he will see me again, and therefore me that I will see him again. My faith makes me that promise on other days and in other ways. But today is his promise, and I can't disregard that, lightly or otherwise.

So, today, I remember my father. The Weenie. And I throw open the windows, grateful I live in New Orleans, where it's warm enough to do that. And I'll clean house, because the house needs cleaning. And I'll probably eat some chocolate ~ although probably not cross-shaped or clasped hand-shaped chocolates, because that's just a little weird. It will be another day for me, but I will recognize that for others, some very important others, it is far, far more than that.

AHHHH! Love that picture of you and your dad!

I'm still trying to process that photo...

Nemeria ~ It is a good one, isn't it? I am assured that there are other pictures of me at this same event with a huge smile, so I believe, given that and my natural penchant for *always* knowing where the camera is, that I was simply caught in that awkward moment between the pose (see elbow) and the smile. ;)

So and So ~ The one of me and my dad, or the bunnies?

You definitely have a bit of his smile from what I've seen in other pics. ;-)

Thank you for sharing this with us. ;-)

Neo-Prodigy ~ That's another reason I am convinced we got caught in the awkward place: his smile is far bigger than that, as well. And yes, we have the same smile. Thanks for noticing.

Hah, really just the look on your face and the fashion of the time...

Love the photo and seeing what you look like and you actually look sorta like I envisioned you and I don't have a psychic bone in my body, Ms BP.
Your sentiments about Easter are pretty similar to the ones I expressed.

Know that pose!

I still remember the Sunrise Service and the overwhelming scent of Easter lilies and the wonderful music, and then one day I discovered there were flowers and music outside of church, and they'd let you sleep in.

So and So ~ Yeah, that's the look that happens between bored teenager and smiling for the camera, when said teenager gets caught right in between. His smile is usually far larger as well. As for the fashion, hey, I was stylin'!

Ian ~ Yes, I have noticed a similar thought pattern running between us. I'll see to it you get a (far more recent and therefore) more accurate picture soon.

AppSRus ~ You would!!! :) You notice the pose got there even before the smile did. ;)

Murr Brewster ~ Welcome to Pobble Thoughts. Always nice to see a new face. Sunrise services were (usually) optional growing up, for which I am still grateful, although your memories of them sound lovely.
