I am a New Englander, a Southerner, my own woman, Rex's daughter, a quivering mass of contradictions. Nothing here means any more or less than you want it to mean. This and a buck fifty will get you coffee. But it's me. And I really like that.
Gamina ~ Same thing happened to me when I went from Boston to Texas for my grandmother's funeral several years ago. I got home late Sunday, went to work Monday, opened my mouth and all my colleagues and I simply froze at the sound.

Uh oh. I, of course, have no accent. It's y'all that talk funny.
Southern accents can be very stubborn. Nothing at all wrong with them, though. :-)
GOML! ~ No accent at all, eh. Perfectly flat, I'm sure. ;)
CrackerLilo ~ Nothing wrong with them at all, just not what I'm used to hearing come out of my mouth.
I'm expecting to reclaim mine when I go to TN. Should be funny when I get back to NYC!
