Lionel Update

Well...

His liver is going bad. His kidneys are going bad. His heart murmur is getting worse. There's something happening with his back legs. The seizure was a grand mal. His cholesterol is sky high (which, in case you don't know, in dogs means there is a major underlying condition).

And yet his spirit is as strong as ever. His eyes are as bright. He loves his cheese, his sunny spot and demanding to be put on the futon. He's as likely to get away from me in the yard as he is to head right up the step and announce he is ready to go back inside.

At this point, the vet doesn't suggest in any way that it is time to put him down. In two weeks...who knows. For now, though, we're hanging out, having lots of mommy and baby snuggle time and making sure life is full of cheese, sunny spots and naps on the futon.

Those are slightly less sad Pobble Thoughts. That and a buck fifty will get you coffee.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending you lots of best wishes -- may there be much more snuggles on the futon.

Wishing you and the little guy all the best! I hope he gets to have that sunny spot in Mexico.

Best of luck Pobble as I know that's got to be tough. A nice sentiment at the end of the post though, and I hope you all get it.

Gah! I just hate this part of loving animals. I hope you and Lionel get to see Mexico together. Peace.

I feel so bad for you!!! I wish I could make it better somehow.

Thinking of you...

His Auntie loves him, and you very much. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs and tail-wags.

*nods at Traci* It's the worst. It's why my mom never let us have pets when we were kids.

Pobble, I hope things improve, and Lionel can enjoy the sunshine in Mexico and lots more cheese. Not original, I know, but please know I'm listening. *hug*

Spoil him for me. Just letting you know that I'm thinking about you both.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this is happening. Having been there, I know how hard it is. I remember being in the vet's office holding Van Gogh, trying to decide what to do and finally called my mom who told me this was the hardest part about having pets, but also the best part. We only feel the pain because of how much we love them and to be able to love an animal like that and know we've done right by him/her, is something wonderful.

Sigh. That probably doesn't help. I don't really know what will. Tight hug for you and a gentle scratch on the head for Lionel. You're both in my thoughts.

So sorry to hear this. I have a little one too and I just don't know what to say.

Ouchy ouch ouch. Our little furry critters always take such an important place in our hearts. Here's to many more days of cheese!

Kimber ~ We're heading there with final edits now. :)

Cam Pike ~ Thanks. And special thanks to Mrs. Pike, too, if you would.

$$ ~ It's day by day so everyday is about cheese and snuggles. We could do worse.

Traci ~ Yeah, this is the hard part. *sigh*

Krystal ~ Thanks. I wish you could, too, honestly. I'd let you. :/

Graziella ~ I've given him special ear skritches from his auntie.

Cracker Lilo ~ I know you are listening. I know you hear. And I am so grateful.

Dennis R ~ Will do. And I'm sure he thanks you.

Nemeria ~ Thanks. And it does help.

Rose ~ You understand, then.

D-Man ~ They really do. And yes, more cheese!
