Perhaps A Bigger Deal Than I'd Thought

People are asking where we are registered.

Um.... where are we registered? We aren't registered. We didn't even think about registering. This isn't a first marriage for either of us. And to be completely honest, in some ways, we have to keep reminding ourselves it's even happening. The wedding part of the weekend is almost secondary to the friends coming to gather and the cake. (Not the marriage. The marriage is a big deal and hardly secondary. But the wedding itself.)

It's a very small event. The people who are coming are spending money getting here. The people who aren't coming either can't afford to come ~ at which point I don't want them to spend their money on a present ~ or they aren't invited ~ and what am I supposed to say to them? Hi, you're not invited but buy us presents anyway..?

And yet my mother is thrilled to be helping with the cake. My florist friend is thrilled to be helping with the flowers. My girlfriends want links and keep asking questions and want to know. And people are asking us where we're registered.

So...maybe this wedding is a bigger deal than I'd thought. But I still don't think we'll be registering. ;)

Those are Pobble Thoughts. That and a buck fifty will get you coffee.

Yeah, it IS a bigger deal than you thought. And those not in attendance really do want to wish you well, hear about the event, etc.

See, I know you so I haven't bothered to ask because, like I said, I know you. But don't think you won't get gifts anyway, lady!

Well, here's what I want to know... is your wedding day the 2nd? That's all. Obviously I will not be crashing your party and I'm sorry to say I won't be sending a gift but I do want to look up at the sky on that special day and say "Congratulations Pobble!"

What about those of us who love you and will love anyone you choose to be with...as long as I approve!! LOL. Many many happy years for you is my wish honey. I also wish that I could be there to hug you in person, but maybe someday. Just know that you are loved and the Quartet in Heaven is singing just for you.

Nothing says love like people willing to spend money on you. Okay that or simply wanting to get you in bed.

Which to be honest when it comes to you and Lithus, I can see motivations for both.

I think it's awesome you got so many people who are happy for you two. That's never a problem.

;D

Wedding are important big or small. People just want to show support to you because they love you.

They are always important, so glad to hear it's going well . . . and maybe you should register at a book store - I know I can never get enough of them. Ha.

Thank you for the lovely comment on my blog. I feel like I should start a support group for LWC (ladies with wide calves!) Right now I'm wearing a size 12 jean - and those boots I ordered were labeled "plus size" on the box. Ouch.

Congrats on the wedding, I subscribed to your blog.
